Poetry Anthologies
Each year, my students created and published a class poetry anthology, compiled of the poetry they had written over the course of a year. Students were asked to submit at least one poem, although many submitted several! Some poems are free verse, while others were written for various classroom activities/prompts (Captured Talk, I Am, What People Say, Mother to Son, Prepositional Poems, etc.).
Each year, we had candle lit poetry readings, snapping in unison after each poet concluded. Every single poem is a treasure to me, reminding me how blessed I am to have known these students, as well as help them express themselves through writing.
