  • Faculty or Parent Activity: Exercise - Illustrating  the Gap in 3rd Grade Reading as a Result of Attendance  (5-8 Minutes)

    • ​The purpose of this activity is to illustrate how the gap in 3rd grade reading grows as children have or do
      not have: 1) access to high quality preschool programs, 2) regular preschool and school attendance and 3) summer
      learning opportunities.

  • Parent Activity : EXERCISE: TAKING ACTION ON ATTENDANCE: HOW PARENTS CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE AT HOME (20-25 Minutes)

    • The purpose of this activity is to help parents see how their choices affect whether their children are in school on
      time, every day for the entire day (what educators call “time on task”). Time on task matters for a child’s learning and
      success. Through this activity, parents will know what they can do to support their children in getting to school on
      time, every day.
